1. Luxury Edition Monopoly Board Game

I 'collect' Monopoly games; have 22 in my collection. I only go for ones that interest me in someway versus an all out board-grab. What is your definition of an official version? USAopoly made quite a few knock-offs (that have made your list) that Hasbro has re-released with the Monopoly trademark. The purist in me wouldn't call a particular version 'official' without the Monopoly trademark.

Particularly when some of the features of the board were changed, i.e. 'Advance to Illinois. You see, despite the strong influence of luck in a game of Monopoly, there is still an underlying order to the game. Go, The Railroads (Particularly Reading), Jail, St. Charles, Illinois, and Boardwalk are the most landed on spots because of the Chance and, in some cases, Community Chest cards. Most of these 'knock-off' versions changed those destinations, essentially messing with the structure of the game. Much like if you were to make a knight act like a bishop in game of chess.

Nevertheless, you should be commended for hunting down a list of this breadth. With very minor exception, and excepting the Junior versions, all of the versions listed here have the same board layout, just different names. So unless the cards or rules were also changed, as you say some have, the strategy (what there is) should remain the same for all versions.

Technically, the strategy will anyway remain the same for versions with different cards and 'frequent' spaces, only the tactics will change. AutismMomof2 said. I have about two dozen versions. One of my more rare ones is one shaped like a book.

Not the one from Target (although I have that one, too), but this one looks like a book. It snaps on the side, and is one of only ten thousand. My copy is #3,300. I also have the Michael Graves ed. I have a magnetic travel ed. I, like a previous poster, only collect what interests me, not just because it is Monopoly.

I'd like to get some more eds from around the world, and some US eds like cities, snoopy, etc. Thanks so much for your very wonderful listing. I also have the one shaped like a car, a train, and one that came in a wooden box, the 'Nostalgia' ed, I think. I want to get the one from the Franklin Mint, and the Heritage ed, I think it is, as well as the anniversary ones, and the replica of the first board. I want a lot, eh?

I have several CD's of Monopoly as well. The one I liked the best is probably my oldest and does not work on xp. I think it is the one for Win95.

I have designed (but not built, or set up) a Harry Potter/Hogwarts themed Monopoly. I can just imagine the copyrights I'd be infringing on, so that ed is only in my head. Further to the three monopoly games of themed around Target and Chrsyler ine the United States and Turku in Finland, I have found two more recently. Bournemouth, Carlisle, East Grinstead, Liverpool City 08, Sheffield, Tottenham Hotspurs FC, and a special one for the Tutankhamun exhition in London. This edition is only available from the Harrods and Hamleys stores or at the exhibition. Making it quite sought after.

Yet more special editions are available from Hasbro. An Onyx look, deluxe edition is available from Barnes Noble (USA) and ToysRus in the UK. These are meant to appeal to the Franklin Mint type of buyers. But the game is quite inferior. Being made from plastic.

There is also an edition produced in the Netherlands from the Hans Anders vision shops. A few editions have found their way on to marktplaats.nl.

More editions to follow. Tycoon, I wrote that right up there in italics at the top of the post! WoM is a great site. When I first wrote this list (with a mere 1000 versions) the other Monopoly sites were still pretty disorganized, with versions scattered around in difficult to navigate pages. I wanted to see them all on one page. Also, for people like me, who aren't collectors, it's also interesting to see the unofficial versions.
